THE PROJECT

How buying this book you support animais in need from Brazil

The number of pets in a condition of vulnerability more than doubled in Brazil between 2018 and 2020. This is one of the results of the most recent Animal Vulnerability (ACV) survey, carried out every two years by Instituto Pet Brazil (IPB).

In the first survey, which had 2018 as the base year, the number of animals in a condition of vulnerability reached 3.9 million in the country. In 2020, the year the pandemic began, that number jumped to 8.8 million – a growth of 126%.

In Brazil alone, there are more than 52 million dogs and 21 million cats domiciled and there are more homes with pets than with children under 12 years old. (IBGE, 2015)

But, unfortunately There are estimates that more than 30 million dogs and cats live on the streets, depending exclusively on human help. these situations can result in negative impacts on animal welfare and public health, as animals without care and food can change their behavior, tending to be more aggressive for survival, thus increasing the number of bites and attacks.

In Brazil, there are more than 170,000 animals under the care of 370 NGOs and groups that work in the area of animal protection throughout Brazil. (Pet Brazil Institute, 2019)

We’ve selected 5 ONG’s to support from our author’s hometown Campina Grande, Paraiba and you can check it out on the ONG’s tab in our website.
